Backhaul – the link between the network and the World Wide Web – is key to dependable service. Aristata built its network with stable backhaul in mind. In fact, we use three independent backhaul providers to ensure a redundant connection.

Even with this backhaul system, we know that there is always more work to be done, and we are committed to getting it right by constantly working on customer service and network improvements to create an increasingly more stable and reliable network that won’t let you down.

Voice service works over your Internet connection, so our backhaul helps to make your phone reliable too! This does mean Voice will not work if there is a network outage.

Additionally, if you lose your Internet connection because of a power outage at the service address, your Internet will go down and the voice services will not work. You can protect against this situation by purchasing an inexpensive uninterruptible power supply (UPS), which provides a battery backup for your equipment and will keep your Internet and voice working even if you lose power as long as our network is still up and running.

Yes! When you sign up for Voice, just notify our Customer Care team that you’d like to port your number. You’ll have to fill out a form authorizing the transfer, but we’ll take care of the rest.

Make sure that you keep your existing phone service active until your number has been ported. If the old account is deactivated before the porting process is completed, there is a chance the number could be lost.

In most cases, Aristata will provide you with a small box called an Analog Telephone Adaptor, or ATA. This box will be delivered by mail with instructions or installed by our field technician if you set up voice service and Internet at the same time.

Your Internet service plugs in on one side of the box and your phone plugs in on the other side. Just connect your regular landline phone into the ATA and use it as usual!
